Vehicle Care 269surge tank pressure cap andupper radiator hose, is nolonger hot.Turn the pressure cap slowlycounterclockwise. If you hear ahiss, wait for that to stop. Thiswill allow any pressure still leftto be vented out thedischarge hose.2. Keep turning the pressure capslowly and remove it. Open thesurge tank service port cap tothe lower chamber. The serviceport is behind the top chamber.3. Fill the surge tank top chamberwith the proper DEX-COOLcoolant mixture to the bottomof the fill neck. The topchamber needs to becompletely full. Fill the surgetank bottom chamber throughthe service port toapproximately half.4. With the coolant surge tankpressure cap off and the surgetank service port cap open,start the engine and let it rununtil you can feel the upperradiator hose getting hot.Watch out for the enginecooling fan(s).By this time, the coolant levelinside the coolant surge tanktop chamber may be lower.If the level is lower, add moreof the proper DEX-COOLcoolant mixture to the surgetank top chamber until the levelreaches the bottom of thefill neck.5. Replace the surge tankpressure cap tightly and closethe surge tank service port cap.CautionIf the pressure cap is not tightlyinstalled, coolant loss andpossible engine damage mayoccur. Be sure the cap is properlyand tightly secured.Check the level in the surge tanktop and bottom chambers when thecooling system has cooled down.If the coolant is not at the properlevels, repeat Steps 1–3 andreinstall the pressure cap and closethe service port. If the coolant still isnot at the proper levels when thesystem cools down again, see yourdealer.Engine OverheatingThe vehicle has an indicator to warnof the engine overheating.If the decision is made not to lift thehood when this warning appears,get service help right away.If the decision is made to lift thehood, make sure the vehicle isparked on a level surface.
