189Appendix 3: Print Media SpecificationsEnvelopesYou can print envelopes by feeding them from the Multi-Purpose tray. Only use goodquality envelopes.Check envelopes and ensure the following conditions are met:n The weight is within the specifications for envelopes described in Table A3-1 (seepage 185).n Edges are square and sharply folded.n Joints are diagonal and flaps are the ordinary gummed type. This is the mostcommon type of envelope for office use. This design is sturdy and can withstandbeing fed through the printer.Never use the following types of envelopes:n Envelopes that are damaged, curled, wrinkled or irregular in shape. Flaps must befolded closed and flat.n Envelopes with fasteners, snaps or windows made of artificial materials such asmetal or plastic. Metal and plastic fasteners can cause serious damage to the printer.
