84 Saving Downloaded Resources With Context SavingHow much memory is enough?If you are not sure about how much memory is installed in your printer, print the TestPrint page (see page 86). The amount of memory available for data processing is listedunder RAM.The printer comes with 4 MB of standard memory. With this standard memory, theprinter can print at 1200 dpi on Letter, A4, or Legal size pages, depending oncomplexity.There are two DIMM sockets for memory. Each can hold up to 16 MB of additionalmemory so the maximum memory the printer can have is 36 MB. For details aboutinstalling extra memory in the printer, see page 28 in the Getting Started Guide.The amount of additional memory you need depends on how the printer is used.Without the extra memory, the memory reduction technology built into your printeris designed to enable 1200 dpi printing quickly and efficiently.Your printer should be able to handle most text and graphics printing at 1200 dpiwithout extra memory. Remember that context saving require additional memory.The table below lists the minimum amount of total memory required for context savingfor simplex (one-sided) printing.
