90Section 6GPS ReceiverReferenceHighway PageWhenever a destination waypoint(s) has beenselected, the NavTalk Pilot’s Highway Page will guide youto your destination with digital readouts and a highwaydisplay. Along the top of the page are four user-selectabledata fields that display current speed, distance, time tonext waypoint, and a bearing pointer (defaults). Thebearing pointer always points to the destination waypoint(or the next waypoint when using a route) relative to thedirection you are moving (track). If the bearing pointerpoints straight ahead, you are heading directly to yourdestination. If the bearing pointer points any directionother than up, turn toward the arrow until it points up—then continue in that direction.The graphic heading compass at the top of the pageindicates the direction you are moving (track). Directlybelow the heading compass, the highway display providesvisual guidance to the destination waypoint and keepsyou on your intended course line. Your course isrepresented by the centerline down the middle of thegraphic highway. As you head toward your destination,the highway perspective will move to indicate yourprogress to the waypoint and which direction you shouldsteer to stay on course.If you are navigating a route, the highway display willshow each route waypoint in sequence, with the active legindicated by the white portion of the highway. Nearbyairports not in the route will also be displayed by signposts.Five available scale settings allow you to zoom in or out onthe highway display for a smaller or larger view.To zoom in or out on the highway display:1. Press the IN zoom key to decrease the scale andshow a smaller view area.2. Press the OUT zoom key to increase the scale andshow a larger view area.Your course is representedby the highway centerline.Keep the centerline in themiddle of the display tostay on course.When using a route,the Highway Pageindicates each leg withwaypoint sign postsalong the route.
