Service Manual February 2017Platform Components86 S-80 • S-85 • S-80X Part No. 1259369GT2-3Platform RotatorThe platform rotator is a hydraulically activatedhelical gear assembly used to rotate the platform160 degrees.How to R emove the Pl atform RotatorHow to Remove the PlatformRotatorComponent damage hazard.Mark the platform mountingweldment and the rotator flangebefore removing the platformmounting weldment. Theplatform mounting weldmentmust be replaced in the exactsame position on the rotatorflange as it was before removal.If a new rotator is installed or therotator is disassembled, properalignment can be achieved byrotating the rotator all the way tothe left and then installing theplatform mounting weldment allthe way in the left position.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications.1 Remove the platform. Refer to RepairProcedure, How to Remove the Platform.2 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hosesfrom the platform rotator manifold. Cap thefittings on the rotator.Bodily injury hazard. Sprayinghydraulic oil can penetrate andburn skin. Loosen hydraulicconnections very slowly to allowthe oil pressure to dissipategradually. Do not allow oil tosquirt or spray.3 S-85: Support the jib boom leveling arms andthe platform mounting weldment with anappropriate lifting device. Do not apply anylifting pressure.4 Remove the mounting bolts from the platformmounting weldment. Remove the center boltand slide the platform mounting weldment offof the platform rotator.Crushing hazard. The platformmounting weldment maybecome unbalanced and fall if itis not properly supported.5 Support the platform rotator with anappropriate lifting device. Do not apply anylifting pressure.S-80:6 Support the rod end of the platform levelingslave cylinder. Protect the cylinder rod fromdamage.7 Remove the pivot pin retaining fasteners fromboth the slave cylinder rod-end pivot pin andthe rotator pivot pin.
