February 2017 Service ManualChecklist D ProceduresPart No. 1259369GT S-80 • S-85 • S-80X 61D-4Inspect for Turntable BearingWearGenie specifications require that this procedure beperformed every 1000 hours or annually,whichever comes first.Periodic inspection of turntable bearing wear isessential to safe machine operation, good machineperformance and service life. Continued use of aworn turntable bearing could create an unsafeoperating condition, resulting in death or seriousinjury and component damage.1 Grease the turntable bearing. Refer toMaintenance Procedure, Grease theTurntable Bearing and Rotate Gear.2 Torque the turntable bearing bolts tospecification. Refer to MaintenanceProcedure, Check the Turntable RotationBearing Bolts.3 Start the machine from the ground controlsand raise the boom to full height. Do notextend the boom.4 Place a dial indicator between the drivechassis and the turntable at a point that isdirectly under, or inline with, the boom and nomore than 1 inch / 2.5 cm from the bearing.Note: To obtain an accurate measurement, placethe dial indicator no more than 1 inch / 2.5 cm fromthe turntable rotation bearing.1 turntable2 dial indicator3 drive chassis4 turntable rotation bearing5 Adjust the dial indicator needle to the "zero"position.6 Fully extend the boom and lower to ahorizontal position.7 Note the reading on the dial indicator.Result: The measurement is less than 0.118inch / 3.0 mm. The bearing is good.Result: The measurement is more than0.118inch / 3.0 mm. The bearing is worn and needsto be replaced.
