134 Key Assignment4.1 OverviewThe TK-7100H/8100H has four PF (ProgrammableFunction) keys: [MON], [SCN], [ ] and [|].You can assign functions to each key.4.2 Description of Functions4.2.1 NoneNo function is assigned when selecting None.4.2.2 Group DownThis function allows you to decrease the GroupNumber.Press the key to decrease the Group Number. Pressand hold the key for more than one second tocontinuously decrease the Group Number.The transceiver skips Groups that are notprogrammed.Scan pauses when pressing the [Group Down] key,but restarts again after one second.4.2.3 Group UpThis function allows you to increase the GroupNumber.Press the key to increase the Group Number. Pressand hold the key for more than one second tocontinuously increase the Group Number.The transceiver skips Groups that are notprogrammed.Scan pauses when pressing the [Group Up] key, butrestarts again after one second.4.2.4 MonitorThe Monitor function permits a channel to bemonitored using carrier squelch. It may be used toinsure the channel is clear before transmitting.Press the [Monitor] key to disable the Signalling andopen the Squelch with a Carrier.The MON icon appears when this function isoperating.Press and hold the [Monitor] key for more than onesecond to unmute the speaker.This function is used to listen for weak radio signalsand to adjust the volume when there is no signal.You can hear background noise when the transceiverunmutes.The MON icon appears when Squelch is open.Press the [Monitor] key again to disable this function.Press the [Monitor] key to reset the Option Signalling.4.2.5 Key LockThis function allows you to lock the transceiver’skeys.This prevents the user from inadvertently changingthe Channel or pausing Scan.Press the [Key Lock] key to lock the transceiver. Theuser can press only the keys required forcommunications.The Key Lock icon appears when this function isactive. The icon flashes when one of locked keys ispressed. The following keys remain active when theKey Lock is activated:PTTEmergencyMonitorVOL UP/DOWNThe [VOL UP/DOWN] keys can be locked byenabling “Volume Lock in Edit > Optional Features” ofthe FPU.Press the [Key Lock] key again to exit this function.This function is not disabled even if the transceiver isturned Off.4.2.6 Talk AroundThis function allows you to transmit using the receivefrequency and Decode Signalling (QT/DQT)programmed for the Channel.This is used when communicating directly betweentransceivers.The receiving party waits for a call on the normalreceive frequency and Decode Signalling (QT/DQT).The transmitting party must transmit using the samefrequency and Signalling.Press the [Talk Around] key to activate this functionand press again to deactive.When the OST and Talk Around functions are bothactivated, the OST function is executed first, as theSignalling operation.
