268 Emergency Mode8.1 OverviewYou can program Emergency Mode in “Edit >Emergency Information > Emergency Mode” in theFPU.“Emergency Mode” is the mode in which emergencyoperations are performed.In Emergency Mode, the transceiver automaticallytransmits and receives. It either transmits the DTMFor MSK ID to the base station depending on the FPUselection.1st Emergency ModePress and hold the key (or Function Port)programmed as Emergency for more than onesecond to begin transmitting and receiving. This isthe 1st Emergency Mode.Voice is transmitted during the automatictransmission, allowing the dispatcher to understandthe situation.You can receive calls from the dispatcher unless theSecret Emergency function has been programmed.2nd Emergency ModeYou can switch the Horn Control (Output) logic andLight Control (Output) logic 60 seconds after theEmergency Mode is activated. This is the 2ndEmergency Mode.You can connect the Function Port to the horn andheadlights of the vehicle so that people outside thecar easily identify that the vehicle is in EmergencyMode.Emergency Mode ExitThere are four ways to exit Emergency Mode: Removing the transceiver power:You can turn the transceiver off by unplugging itspower cord. The transceiver does not store theEmergency Mode status. The transceiver entersnormal operation the next time it is turned ON. Switching the transceiver OFF:The transceiver does not store the EmergencyMode status. The transceiver enters normaloperation the next time it is turned ON.However, you cannot switch the transceiver OFFwhen the Emergency Power Switch isprogrammed, even though the display blacks out. Pressing and holding the [Emergency] key formore than 10 seconds:When the Emergency Manual Reset function isprogrammed, you can exit Emergency Mode bypressing and holding the [Emergency] key formore than 10 seconds. Using DTMF:Emergency Mode exits when the transceiverreceives the DTMF Reset Code from thedispatcher.Refer to “8.1.12 Emergency Display” and “8.1.16Emergency Recognition” for Emergency Modedisplay details. The following sections detail theemergency mode operation and settings.8.1.1 Emergency Group/ChannelThe Emergency Group/Channel is the Channel usedwhen the transceiver enters the Emergency Mode.Press the [Emergency] key to move to theEmergency Group/Channel.The transceiver enters Emergency Mode on thecurrent Group/Channel when an EmergencyGroup/Channel is not programmed.8.1.2 Duration of TransmissionThe Duration of Transmission is the duration forautomatically transmitting in the Emergency Mode.The transceiver automatically transmits for theprogrammed duration before returning to the receivemode.You cannot use this function when Stun is enabled.8.1.3 Duration of ReceivingThe Duration of Receiving is the duration forreceiving in the Emergency Mode.The transceiver automatically receives for theprogrammed duration and then enters the automatictransmission mode.8.1.4 Emergency TypeThis function allows you to select DTMF or MSK totransmit the ID in the Emergency Mode.
