93 Optional Features3.1 OverviewYou may set various optional feature configurationsin the Edit/ Optional Features screen.3.2 Description of Functions3.2.1 Time-out TimerThis function is used to set the amount of time thatthe transceiver is allowed to continuously transmitand when it is allowed to transmit again. This function prevents a user from occupying arepeater or simplex frequency for long periods of timeThe transceiver will stop transmitting continuouslywhen the programmed time is exceeded. There are four types of timers: Time-out Timer, TOTPre-Alert, TOT Rekey Timer and TOT Reset Time. Time-out TimerThis is the maximum time for continuoustransmission.Default 60 sRange OFF/ 30 s ~ 300 s (in steps of 30 s) TOT Pre-AlertThe TOT (Time-out Timer) Pre-Alert tone soundsbefore the Time-out Timer expires.Default OFFRange OFF/ 1 ~ 10 s (in steps of 1 s) TOT Rekey TimerThe TOT (Time-out Timer) Rekey Timerdetermines the length of time required before youcan re-transmit.Default OFFRange OFF/ 1~ 60 s (in steps of 1 s) TOT Reset TimerThe TOT (Time-out Timer) Reset Timerdetermines the length of time required beforeresetting the Time-out Timer while nottransmitting. You can re-transmit while this timer is operating, but the Time-out Timer will not be reset.Default OFFRange OFF/ 1 ~ 15 s (in steps of 1 s) ExampleWhen setting the Time Out Timer at “30” seconds, the TOT Pre-Alert at “10” seconds, the TOT RekeyTimer at “15” seconds and the TOT Reset Timer at“3” seconds:• The Pre-Alert tone sounds after 20 seconds ofcontinuous transmission.• The transceiver stops transmitting and entersthe receiving mode 10 seconds after thePre-Alert tone sounds.• You cannot transmit for 15 seconds from whenthe transceiver enters receiving mode.• The Time-out Timer starts counting as soon asthe PTT switch is pressed and continuescounting even if the PTT switch is releasedwithin 30 seconds from the beginning of thetransmission. In this case, the Time-out Timercontinues counting for 3 seconds if the PTTswitch is released.• The Time-out Timer stops counting down whenthe PTT switch is released after the TOT ResetTimer expires. It starts counting down againwhen the PTT switch is pressed again.3.2.2 Minimum VolumeThe minimum volume level is programmable in theTK-7100H/8100H.This function sets the minimum volume level whenturning the transceiver ON.The transceiver emits a tone unless the MinimumVolume is set to “0.”3.2.3 Squelch LevelThis function programs the squelch level at which thecarrier signal level is muted. Signal levels that areless than the pre-programmed level will not unmutethe speaker of the transceiver.Setting the Squelch Level at a high level can reducethe reception of unwanted calls when they are weak. You can select a squelch level between 0 and 9. Squelch Level = 0The mute function is disabled. The transceiver controls the Squelch only with thepreset QT/DQT codes in properly programmedchannels. Squelch Level = 1~ 9You can operate Squelch using the programmedvalue.(1: Threshold Squelch Level, 9: Tight SquelchLevel)3.2.4 Radio Password
