51 Basic Information1.1 Turning Power ON1 Turn the transceiver ON.• A beep sounds.Note: The initial screen appears when turning on thetransceiver, then the characters programmed in thePower On Text appear.1.2 Volume AdjustmentYou can adjust the volume using the [VOL UP] and[VOL DOWN] keys.1.3 Group/Channel Selection Selecting a Group:Press the keys programmed as [Group Up] or[Group Down] to move to the desired Group.Note: When the transceiver reaches the maximum GroupNumber, pressing the [Group Up] key will cause thetransceiver to move to the lowest Group number.When the transceiver reaches the lowest GroupNumber, pressing the [Group Down] key will cause thetransceiver to move to the maximum Group number.Note: The Roll Over Tone beeps when the transceiverreaches the lowest Group Number. Selecting a Channel:Press the [CH UP] and [CH DOWN] keys to moveto the desired Channel.Note: When the transceiver reaches the maximum Channel,pressing the [CH Up] key will cause it to move to thelowest Channel. When the transceiver reaches thelowest Channel, pressing the [CH DOWN] key willcause it to move to the maximum Channel.Note: The Roll Over Tone beeps when the transceiverreaches the lowest Channel.Group1(Channel1) Group2(Channel2) Group**(Channel**)Roll Over ToneRoll Over Tone1.4 Communicating1.4.1 Transmitting a QT/DQT CodeThe transceiver transmits QT/DQT codes whenprogrammed in the channels of the radio and the PTTswitch is depressed.The receiving party’s QT/DQT must be the same asthe transmitting party’s QT/DQT in order to receivetha call.1.4.2 Receiving QT/DQT CodesTo receive a call on a channel where QT/DQT codesare used, the received QT/DQT must be the same asthe QT/DQT programmed in the transceiver.1.5 Mode Entry1.5.1 User ModeThe transceiver enters User Mode when turning thetransceiver ON. User Mode is the most frequentlyused mode.1.5.2 Clone ModeThe transceiver enters Clone Mode when it is turnedON while pressing the [CH DOWN] key.Refer to “11 Clone Mode” for details.1.5.3 Self Programming ModeThe transceiver enters Self Programming Mode whenit is turned ON while pressing the [MON] key.Refer to “12 Self Programming Mode” for details.1.5.4 Firmware Version InformationModeThe transceiver displays the Firmware version whenit is turned ON while pressing the [|] key.Refer to “10 Firmware Version Information Mode” fordetails.1.5.5 PC ModeThe PC Mode includes reading or writing data usingthe FPU (KPG-80D). It also contains the Test Mode inthe FPU.The transceiver enters PC Mode when switching themode to Test Mode or reading/ writing data using theFPU.
