TS-990S160Updating FirmwareYou can use a firmware file (zip file) and update thefirmware for all processors. The firmware file (zip file) con-tains the firmware for all processors. The firmware-updatingprogram incorporated by the transceiver overwrites the oldfirmware for the processors with the firmware in the firmwarefile (zip file). Follow the procedure explained in the OperationManual to update the fi rmware. You can download the firmware file (zip file) from the fol-lowing site:http://www.kenwood.com/i/products/info/amateur/software_download.html* The URL may change without notice.Note: Be sure to use the latest version of the firmware file (zipfile) and update the firmware if you have replaced any of thefollowing units: 1. Digital unit (X46-339) 2. Four MCUs, i.e.,main MCU (X53-452 IC46), scope MCU (X53-452 IC380),sub MCU (X53-453 IC101) for DSP control, and panel MCU(X54-385 IC6) 3. Flash memory for DSP use (X53-453IC203 and IC301)Required Test Equipment1. Digital Voltmeter (DVM)1) Input resistance: More than 1M2) Voltage range: 1.5 to 1000V AC/DCNote: A high-recision multimeter may be used. However, accurate readings can not be obtained for high-impedancecircuits.2. DC Ammeter1) Current range: 100mA, 1.5A, 30A, high-precision amme-ter may be used.3. RF VTVM (RF VM)1) Input impedance: 1M and less than 3pF, min.2) Voltage range: 10mV to 300V3) Frequency range: 10kHz to 500MHz4. AF Voltmeter (AF VM)1) Frequency range: 50Hz to 10kHz2) Input resistance: 1M or greater3) Voltage range: 10mV to 30V5. AF Generator (AG)1) Frequency range: 200Hz to 5kHz2) Output: 1mV or less to 1V, low distortion6. AF Dummy Load (DM. SP)1) Impedance: 82) Dissipation: 3W or greater7. OscilloscopeRequires high sensitivity, and external synchronizationcapability (150MHz or greater).8. Standard Signal Generator (SSG)1) Frequency range: 50kHz to 60MHz2) Output: –133dBm/0.1μV to 7dBm/1VWhen performing the frequency adjustment, the followingaccuracy is necessary.• 0.05ppm3) Output impedance: 504) AM and FM modulation can be possibleNote: Generator must be frequency stable.9. Frequency Counter (f. counter)1) Minimum input voltage: 50mV2) Frequency range: 150MHz or greater3) Frequency accuracy: 0.05ppm or less10. Noise Generator (Noise G.)Must generate ignition noise containing harmonics be-yond 60MHz.11. Audio Analyzer12. RF Dummy Load1) Impedance: 150 and 502) Dissipation: 500W or greater13. Linear Detector1) Frequency range: 60MHz or greater14. Power Meter1) Impedance: 502) Dissipation: 300W continuous or greater3) Frequency limits: 60MHz or greater15.
