Depending on the microphone, a loud noisecould occur, damaging equipment and harming people'shearing.• Do not connect or disconnect a microphone when phantompower is turned on. Doing so could cause a loud noise andmight damage this unit and connected equipment.• Turn phantom power on only when using a condensermicrophone that requires phantom power. Turningphantom power on when a dynamic mic or other mic thatdoes not require it is connected could damage this unit andconnected equipment.• When using condenser mics that require phantom powerand dynamic mics together, be sure to use balanceddynamic mics. Unbalanced dynamic mics cannot be usedwhen phantom power is enabled.• Supplying phantom power to some ribbon mics will breakthem. If you are unsure, do not supply phantom power to aribbon mic.NOTE• Before producing any sound, minimize the output volumeusing the MONITOR LEVEL knob and external monitoringsystem. A loud noise could occur, resulting in damages toequipment and people's hearing.• Recorder functions cannot be used when the unit isconnected to a computer via USB.TIPWhen connecting an electric-acoustic guitar with a built-inpreamp or an active-type electric guitar, or when using aneffects pedal, for example, between the guitar and this unit,set in the LINE-GUITAR switch on the rear panel to LINE.Adjusting the contrastYou can adjust the contrast of the display.Follow the procedure below to adjust the contrast.1. When the recorder is stopped, press the MENU button toopen the MENU screen.2. Use the JOG/DATA dial or the CURSOR (5/b/g/t)buttons to select (green highlight) PREFERENCE, andthen press the F4 (t) button.The PREFERENCE screen appears.3. Use the CURSOR (5/b) buttons to select the items youwant to adjust such as Contrast, Brightness andBacklight, and then use the JOG/DATA dial to makethe adjustments.4. After making the settings, press the HOME button to returnto the Home screen.
