TASCAM DP-24SD 6713 - Exchanging Data with a ComputerBy connecting this unit to a computer using a commercial-ly-available USB cable, you can backup song data from an SDcard in the unit to a computer and restore backed-up songinformation. In addition, you can export track files and stereomaster files from songs to the computer, as well as import audiofiles from the computer to the unit.Backed up data can be restored to a different DP-24SD unitthan the one that created it. In other words, files can be freelyexchanged between DP-24SD units, making it easy to addadditional recordings or mix existing recordings in a differentlocation.CAUTIONIf you want to remove an SD card from this unit and back upits data on a computer using a card reader, always turn offthe unit's power before removing the card.NOTEIn this chapter, "computer" refers to a Windows or Macpersonal computer connected to this unit. (See "Operatingsystem requirements" on the right column.)The following types of data can be transferred from this unit toa computer.8 Entire songsYou can transfer the data for an entire song from the unit'sMUSIC folder to a computer. This operation is called "backup". Inaddition, data backed up on a computer can be transferred tothe MUSIC folder, and then restored as song file. This operation iscalled "restore".8 WAV format tracksExport specified track files as WAV files to the AudioDepot folderof the SD card. There is no need for a special driver.NOTEData transfer between this unit and a computer occurs atUSB 2.0 speed (maximum). Data can still be transferred ifthe computer connection is USB 1.1, but it will be slower. Inaddition, to assure USB 2.0 speed, use a cable that meetsUSB 2.0 standards.Connecting to a computerWhen connected via USB, this unit's record, playback and otherrecorder operations cannot be used.To connect with a computer, connect the USB port on the rearpanel of the unit with a USB port on the computer using amini-B-type USB 2.0 cable.It does not matter whether you turn the unit's power ON beforeor after the USB connection is made.When this unit is ON, enable the USB connection in the USBitem of the MENU screen.The currently loaded song is saved before the USB connectionbecomes effective. When connected, the following screenappears on the display.After making a USB connection, you must turn the power onand enable the USB connection in the USB item of the MENUscreen.This unit appears as an external drive named DP-24SD on thecomputer's display.Clicking on the DP-24SD drive will display the MUSIC, UTILITY,and AudioDepot folders.CAUTION• Be sure to use the included PS-P1220E AC adapter to supplypower to this unit.
