CLI Commands B-15ENABLEenable access Enables the Access List feature. When enables, only Remote Hosts in the access listare permitted access to the Router’s management services.enable bridge networkEnables bridging over the specified network. You must have previously runadd bridge network to add bridging over this network. bridge networking isenabled by default, so you will only need to use this command if you havepreviously disabled this bridge. Note that bridging will not occur for a protocol, ifrouting is enabled for that protocol.enable bridgespanning_treeEnables the spanning tree algorithm for the bridge connection. The spanning treealgorithm is required if there is more than one bridge between the same two LANsegments. You can use list bridge forwarding to see which bridges are defined,and show bridge network settings to see which options areenabled on a particular bridge network.enable commandpassword Enables the console password feature. When enabled, the user must login withthe specified password before using the console port. This password is not thesame password specified for Remote Login access. Once enabled, the unit must besent back to the factory if the password is forgotten.enable interfaceEnables the specified interface. Enabling an interface enables it to transmit andreceive data. You can use list interfaces to see which interfaces are defined, andwhether they are currently disabled.enable ip forwarding Enables all IP networks to forward (route) packets. You should only need to usethis command if you previously used disable ip forwarding.enable ip networkEnables the specified IP network, which you previously defined using add ipnetwork. You can use list ip networks to see the currently defined IP networks, aswell as their current status.enable ip rip Enables the RIP protocol for all IP networks. RIP protocol is set to NONE by default.You can check the RIP version using show ip network settings, and modify it usingset ip network. RIP is enabled by default.enable ip routing Enables all routing protocols for all IP networks. Currently, the only IP routingprotocol this command enables is RIP, so it is functionally the same as enable ip rip.enable ipx networkEnables the specified IPX network, which you previously defined using the add ipxnetwork command. You can list currently defined IPX networks using list ipxnetworks.enable lan access When the access list feature is enabled, this command enables access to all hostson the local LAN interface. When enabled, all frames received on the LANinterface bypass the access list check.
