• Move the cruise switch from on toresume/accelerate. Hold it there until you get up tothe speed you want, and then release the switch.To increase your speed in very small amounts,move the switch briefly to resume/accelerate.Each time you do this, your vehicle will go about1 mph (1.6 km/h) faster.Reducing Speed While Using CruiseControlThere are two ways to reduce your speed while usingcruise control:• Press in the button at the end of the lever until youreach the lower speed you want, then release it.• To slow down in very small amounts, briefly pressthe set button. Each time you do this, you’ll goabout 1 mph (1.6 km/h) slower.Passing Another Vehicle While UsingCruise ControlUse the accelerator pedal to increase your speed.When you take your foot off the pedal, your vehicle willslow down to the cruise control speed you set earlier.Using Cruise Control on HillsHow well your cruise control will work on hills dependsupon your speed, load and the steepness of the hills.When going up steep hills, you may have to step on theaccelerator pedal to maintain your speed. When goingdownhill, you may have to brake or shift to a lower gear tokeep your speed down. Applying the brake or shifting intoa lower gear will take you out of cruise control. If youneed to apply the brake or shift to a lower gear due to thegrade of the downhill slope, you may not want to attemptto use your cruise control feature.Ending Cruise ControlTo end a cruise control session, step lightly on the brakepedal. If your vehicle has a manual transmission, lightlytapping the clutch will end a cruise control session also.Stepping on the brake or clutch pedal will end thecurrent cruise control session only. Move the cruisecontrol switch to off to turn off the system completely.Erasing Speed MemoryWhen you turn off the cruise control or the ignition,your cruise control set speed memory is erased.3-15
