Engine OilIf the oil pressure lightand/or the Oil PressureLow – Stop Enginemessage on the DICappears on the instrumentcluster, it means youneed to check your engineoil level right away.For more information, see “Oil Pressure Low – StopEngine” underDIC Warnings and Messages onpage 3-61 andOil Pressure Light on page 3-46.You should check your engine oil level regularly; this isan added reminder.Checking Engine OilIt is a good idea to check your engine oil every time youget fuel. In order to get an accurate reading, the oilmust be warm and the vehicle must be on level ground.The engine oil dipstick handle is a yellow loop. SeeEngine Compartment Overview on page 5-12 forthe location of the engine oil dipstick.Turn off the engine and give the oil several minutes todrain back into the oil pan. If you do not do this, theoil dipstick might not show the actual level.Pull out the dipstick and clean it with a paper towel orcloth, then push it back in all the way. Remove it again,keeping the tip down, and check the level.5-16
