To program a new key do the following:1. Verify that the new key has PK3+ stamped on it.2. Insert the current driver’s key in the ignition and startthe engine. If the engine will not start see your dealerfor service.3. After the engine has started, turn the key to OFF,and remove the key.4. Insert the key to be programmed and turn it to ONwithin ten seconds of removing the previous key.5. The security light will turn off once the key has beenprogrammed. It may not be apparent that the securitylight went on due to how quickly the key isprogrammed.6. Repeat the Steps 1 through 4 if additional keys areto be programmed.If you are ever driving and the security light comes on andstays on, you will be able to restart your engine if you turnit off. The theft-deterrent system, however, is not workingproperly and must be serviced by your dealer. Yourvehicle is not protected by the theft-deterrent system atthis time.In an emergency, contact Cadillac Roadside Assistance.SeeRoadside Service on page 7-6.Starting and Operating YourVehicleNew Vehicle Break-InNotice: Your vehicle does not need an elaborate“break-in.” But it will perform better in the long runif you follow these guidelines for the first 500 miles(805 km):• Do not drive at any one speed — fast or slow.• Do not exceed 70 mph (113 km/h).• Do not make full-throttle starts; also refrainfrom using the full throttle while driving.If these procedures are not followed, your engine,axle or other parts could be damaged.Avoid making hard stops for the first 200 miles(322 km) or so. During this time your new brakelinings are not yet broken in. Hard stops with newlinings can mean premature wear and earlierreplacement.
