Stabilitrak® comes on automatically whenever you startyour vehicle. To help assist you with directionalcontrol of the vehicle, you should always leave thesystem on. You can turn Stabilitrak® off if you everneed to through the TC (traction control) on/off button.SeeTraction Control System (TCS) on page 4-9.If your vehicle is in cruise control when the Stabilitrak®activates, the cruise control will automaticallydisengage. When road conditions allow you to safelyuse it again, you may reengage the cruise control.See “Cruise Control” underTurn Signal/MultifunctionLever on page 3-9 for more information.Panic Brake AssistYour vehicle has a panic brake assist system thatmonitors the intention of the driver while braking. If thesystem senses that the driver has applied hard/fastpressure to the brake pedal, the system will generateadditional pressure, making it easier for the driver tomaintain brake application. When this happens the brakepedal will feel easier to push. Just hold the brake pedaldown firmly and let the system work for you. You may feelthe brakes vibrate, or you may notice some noise but thisis normal. The brakes will return to normal operation afterthe brake pedal has been released.SteeringPower SteeringIf you lose power steering assist because the enginestops or the system is not functioning, you can steer butit will take much more effort.Speed Variable Assist SteeringIf your vehicle has this system, it varies the amount ofeffort required to steer the vehicle in relation to thespeed of the vehicle. The amount of steering effort required is less at slowerspeeds to make the vehicle more maneuverableand easier to park. At faster speeds, the steering effortincreases to provide a sport-like feel to the steering. This provides maximum control and stability. If your vehicle seems harder to steer than normalwhen parking or driving slowly, there may be a problemwith the system. You will still have power steering, but steering will be stiffer than normal at slow speeds.See your dealer for service.4-11
