Using Adaptive Cruise Controls on Hillsand When Towing a TrailerHow well Adaptive Cruise Control will work on hills andwhen towing a trailer depends on your speed, vehicleload, traffic conditions and the steepness of the hills. Itmay not detect a vehicle in your lane while drivingon hills. When going up steep hills, you may want touse the accelerator pedal to maintain your speed. Whengoing downhill when towing a trailer, you may want tobrake to keep your speed down. Applying the brakedisengages the system. You may choose not touse Adaptive Cruise Control on steep hills whentowing a trailer.Disengaging Adaptive Cruise ControlTo disengage the system, apply the brake pedal ormove the Adaptive Cruise Control switch to off. AdaptiveCruise Control information will not appear on the HUDwhen the system is not engaged.Erasing Set Speed MemoryWhen you turn the Adaptive Cruise Control switch orthe ignition off, the set speed memory is erased.Other MessagesThere are three messages that may appear on the DIC.They are SERVICE RADAR CRUISE, RADARCRUISE NOT READY and CLEAN RADAR. Thesemessages will appear to indicate a problem withthe Adaptive Cruise Control. See DIC Warnings andMessages on page 3-79 for more information.Cleaning the SystemThe radar can become blocked by snow, ice or dirt. Ifso, you may need to turn off the engine and cleanthe lens. Remember, do not use Adaptive Cruise Controlin icy conditions, or when visibility is low, such as infog, rain or snow.The emblem/lens is located in the center of the grille.To clean the emblem/lens, wipe the surface with asoft cloth. After cleaning the emblem/lens, engage theAdaptive Cruise Control. If you are unable to do so, seeyour dealer.3-30
