Driver Information Center (DIC)The Driver Information Center (DIC) gives you thestatus of many of your vehicle’s systems. The DIC isalso used to display warning/status messages. Allmessages will appear in the DIC display located at thebottom of the instrument panel cluster, below thetachometer and speedometer. The DIC buttons arelocated on the instrument panel, to the left of thesteering wheel.The DIC comes on when the ignition is on. After a shortdelay, the DIC will display the current driver and theinformation that was last displayed before the enginewas turned off.The top line of the DIC display shows the vehiclesystem information and the warning/status messages.The bottom line of the DIC display shows either theodometer, the trip odometer A or the trip odometer Binformation on the left side. Only one odometer canappear at a time. See “Trip Information” under DICControls and Displays on page 3-74 for information onchanging the display to show the odometer or tripodometer information. The bottom line of the DIC displayalso shows the outside temperature on the right side andthe shift lever position indicator in the center. SeeAutomatic Transmission Operation (STS) on page 2-28or Automatic Transmission Operation (STS-V) onpage 2-32 for more information on the shift leverpositions.When the sport mode is active, an S will appear next tothe shift position indicator on the center of the DICdisplay. When the manual mode is active, an Mwill appear on the DIC display. When the normal modeis active, only the shift position indicator will appear.While the Driver Shift Control (DSC) feature is active,the DIC will change to show the selected gear. See“Driver Shift Control (DSC)” under AutomaticTransmission Operation (STS) on page 2-28 orAutomatic Transmission Operation (STS-V) onpage 2-32 for more information.If a problem is detected, a warning message will appearon the display. Be sure to take any message thatappears on the display seriously and remember thatclearing the message will only make the messagedisappear, not correct the problem.3-73
