Doors and LocksDoor Locks{CAUTION:Unlocked doors can be dangerous.• Passengers — especially children — caneasily open the doors and fall out of amoving vehicle. When a door is locked, thehandle will not open it. You increase thechance of being thrown out of the vehiclein a crash if the doors are not locked. So,wear safety belts properly and lock thedoors whenever you drive.• Young children who get into unlockedvehicles may be unable to get out. A childcan be overcome by extreme heat and cansuffer permanent injuries or even deathfrom heat stroke. Always lock your vehiclewhenever you leave it.• Outsiders can easily enter through anunlocked door when you slow down orstop your vehicle. Locking your doors canhelp prevent this from happening.There are several ways to lock and unlock your vehicle.From the outside, press the lock or unlock button onthe keyless access transmitter. When you haveyour transmitter with you, you may also unlock andopen the door by pulling the door handle. You do nothave to press the unlock button on the transmitter. Entryoccurs when the door handle is pulled and the vehiclerecognizes your transmitter. See Vehicle Personalizationon page 2-53 for information on how to program thekeyless access feature.From the inside, use the power door lock switcheslocated on each front door. See Power Door Locks onpage 2-12 for more information. The rear passengerdoors have manual door lock knobs located at the top ofthe door panel near the window. Push down the knobto lock the door. Pull up the knob to unlock the door.Power Door LocksThe power door lock switches are located on thefront doors.K (Unlock): Press the side of the switch with theunlock symbol to unlock the doors.Q (Lock): Press the side of the switch with the locksymbol to lock the doors.2-12
