Theft-Deterrent SystemYour vehicle has a theft-deterrent alarm system.The security light islocated on the instrumentpanel cluster.If the ignition is off and a door is open, the security lightwill flash, reminding you to arm the theft-deterrentsystem.To arm the system, do one of the following:• Press the lock button on the keyless accesstransmitter. If the door is closed when the lock buttonis pressed, the security light will stay illuminated for30 seconds. After the security light goes off, thetheft-deterrent system is armed. Pressing the lockbutton twice will arm the system immediately.If the vehicle is locked using the keyless accesstransmitter and the trunk lid, hood or a door is openor not closed completely, the security light will flashfor 60 seconds and then turn off. At this time, thetheft-deterrent system is armed but the alarm will notsound if the trunk lid, hood or door that was notclosed completely is tampered with or opened. Thealarm will sound for the trunk lid, hood or a door thatwas completely closed at the time the vehicle waslocked using the keyless access transmitter.• Open the door. Lock the door with the power doorlock switch or lock button on the keyless accesstransmitter. The security light should flash. Close thedoor. The security light will stop flashing and stay on.After 30 seconds the light should turn off, thetheft-deterrent system is armed.• Passive Arming, if activated through the vehiclepersonalization feature, will arm the systemautomatically after you close the door and take atleast one keyless access transmitter with you. Thesecurity light will turn on. After 60 seconds the lightshould turn off. The theft-deterrent system is armed.See Vehicle Personalization on page 2-53.2-21
