If this message appears immediately after starting theengine, it is possible that the generator can still rechargethe battery. The battery should recharge while drivingbut may take a few hours to do so. Consider usingan auxiliary charger to boost the battery after returninghome or to a final destination. Make sure you followthe manufacturer’s instructions.If this message appears while driving or after startingyour vehicle and stays on, have it checked immediatelyto determine the cause of this problem.To help the generator recharge the battery quickly, youcan reduce the load on the electrical system byturning off the accessories.The normal battery voltage range is 11.5 to 15.5 volts.You can monitor battery voltage on the DIC by pressingthe information button until you find BATTERY VOLTS.CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOONWhen this message displays, it means that service isrequired for your vehicle. See your GM dealer. SeeEngine Oil on page 5-18 and Scheduled Maintenanceon page 6-4 for more information.When you reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOONmessage by clearing it from the display, you still mustreset the engine oil life system separately.
