Here are some things you need to know to help yourvehicle pass an inspection:Your vehicle will not pass this inspection if the CheckEngine light is on or not working properly.To perform a Check Engine light bulb check with thekeyless ignition, make sure the transmitter fob is in thepassenger compartment. See Ignition Positions onpage 2-24. Press the bottom of the ACC button on theinstrument panel and hold the button down forfive seconds. The instrument panel, including the CheckEngine light, will light up and the ignition will be on, butthe engine will not start — if you press the bottom of theACC button only briefly, less than five seconds, theaccessory mode will be turned on, but not the ignition.After the bulb check, be sure to press and release theACC button again to turn the ignition off and avoiddraining the vehicle’s battery.Your vehicle will not pass this inspection if the OBD(on-board diagnostic) system determines that criticalemission control systems have not been completelydiagnosed by the system. The vehicle would beconsidered not ready for inspection. This can happen ifyou have recently replaced your battery or if your batteryhas run down. The diagnostic system is designed toevaluate critical emission control systems during normaldriving. This may take several days of routine driving. Ifyou have done this and your vehicle still does not passthe inspection for lack of OBD system readiness, yourGM dealer can prepare the vehicle for inspection.Oil Pressure Light{CAUTION:Do not keep driving if the oil pressure is low. Ifyou do, your engine can become so hot that itcatches fire. You or others could be burned.Check your oil as soon as possible and haveyour vehicle serviced.Notice: Lack of proper engine oil maintenance maydamage the engine. The repairs would not becovered by your warranty. Always follow themaintenance schedule in this manual for changingengine oil.3-70
