Recirculation is not available in the defrost mode andwill shut off when defog mode is selected. Both of thesefeatures are designed to limit fogging in your vehicle.If recirculation is selected during defog mode, it willautomatically turn off after 10 minutes to limit problemswith fogging.In some conditions, using recirculation for long periodsof time may cause the air inside your vehicle tobecome too dry or stuffy. To prevent this fromhappening, after the air in your vehicle has cooled,select AUTO to return to automatic climate controloperation or push the recirculation button again toselect outside air.Pressing this button a second time selects outside air.: (Outside Air): This mode forces the systemto pull air from outside the vehicle. It can be used tobring fresh air into the vehicle.Air Quality Sensor: Your vehicle may be equippedwith an optional air quality sensor to help limit the climatecontrol system from pulling in some harmfulexhaust fumes from older, poorly running ordiesel-equipped vehicles that are driving near you. Thissensor, when active, will monitor the air quality in front ofyour vehicle and switch to air recirculation when poorquality air is detected outside your vehicle. You canactivate the air quality sensor on your vehicle (ifequipped) by pressing the AUTO button on your climatecontrol. The word AUTO will be shown in the center of theclimate control display under the outline shape of avehicle. When the air quality sensor senses poor qualityair, the recirculation graphic will be shown as long as thesensor senses poor quality air.Under some conditions, the air quality sensor system willnot operate. In cold weather, the system may not beactive (even if the AUTO indication is displayed) becauseof concerns of fogging your windows, which may occur byactivating recirculation mode. Also, the air quality sensorsystem will not remain in recirculation mode for extendedperiods of time that could cause stuffy or very dryconditions in the vehicle. Following a poorly runningvehicle for an extended period of time may not keeprecirculation active indefinitely.3-50
