Operation Manual – IPv4 RoutingH3C S5500-EI Series Ethernet Switches Chapter 3 OSPF Configuration3-373.7.8 Configuring Stub RoutersA stub router is used for traffic control. It tells other OSPF routers not to use it to forwarddata, but they can have a route to it.The Router LSAs from the stub router may contain different link type values. A value of3 means a link to the stub network, so the cost of the link remains unchanged. A valueof 1, 2 or 4 means a point-to-point link, a link to a transit network or a virtual link. In suchcases, a maximum cost value of 65535 is used. Thus, other neighbors find the links tothe stub router have such big costs, they will not send packets to the stub router forforwarding as long as there is a route with a smaller cost.Follow these steps to configure a router as a stub router:To do… Use the command… RemarksEnter system view system-view —Enter OSPF view ospf [ process-id |router-id router-id ] * —Configure the router as astub router stub-router RequiredNot configured by defaultNote:A stub router has nothing to do with a stub area.3.7.9 Configuring OSPF AuthenticationBy supporting packet authentication, OSPF receives packets that pass theauthentication only, so failed packets cannot establish neighboring relationships.Follow these steps to configure OSPF authentication:To do… Use the command… RemarksEnter system view system-view —Enter OSPF view ospf [ process-id |router-id router-id ] * —Enter area view area area-id —Configure theauthentication modeauthentication-mode{ simple | md5 }RequiredNot configured bydefaultExit to OSPF view quit —Exit to system view quit —
