Operation Manual – IPv6 RoutingH3C S5500-EI Series Ethernet Switches Chapter 5 IPv6 BGP Configuration5-175.7 Configuring a Large Scale IPv6 BGP NetworkIn a large-scale IPv6 BGP network, configuration and maintenance become noconvenient due to too many peers. In this case, configuring peer groups makesmanagement easier and improves route distribution efficiency. Peer group includesIBGP peer group, where peers belong to the same AS, and EBGP peer group, wherepeers belong to different ASs. If peers in an EBGP group belong to the same externalAS, the EBGP peer group is a pure EBGP peer group, and if not, a mixed EBGP peergroup. In a peer group, all members enjoy a common policy. Using the community attributecan make a set of IPv6 BGP routers in multiple ASs enjoy the same policy, becausesending of community between IPv6 BGP peers is not limited by AS.To guarantee connectivity between IBGP peers, you need to make them fully meshed, but it becomes unpractical when there are too many IBGP peers. Using route reflectorsor confederation can solve it. In a large-scale AS, both of them can be used.Confederation configuration of IPv6 BGP is identical to that of BGP4, so it is notmentioned here.
