Make sure the rear panel power switch is set to the c (“on”)position.3. Examine the power cord to ensure a good connection betweenthe rear panel AC input connector and the wall outlet.4. Check the electrical circuit and breaker.The remote control does not work.1. Make sure the front panel IR receiver window shown on page2-3 is not obstructed. The remote control must be in line-of-sight with the receiver for proper operation. See “OperationConsiderations” on page 2-6 for more information.2. Make sure the remote control batteries are correctly insertedwith the proper polarity. See “Remote Control Battery Installa-tion” on page 1-5 for battery installation instructions.The AV1 is powered on, but there is no audio.1. Examine the audio cables to ensure a good connection to theassociated amplifier.2. Make sure volume level is audible. Volume level can beincreased with the front panel volume knob or the remote con-trol VOL and buttons.3. Make sure audio has not been muted. The message “MUTEON” or “FULL MUTE ON” will appear on the on-screen andfront panel displays when audio has been muted. To deactivatemute, press the front panel or remote control Mute button oruse the front panel volume knob or the remote control VOL and buttons to adjust volume level.4. Check the INPUT SETUP menu DIGITAL IN and ANALOG INparameters to ensure the appropriate audio connector is assignedto the selected input. See“Assigning Audio & Video Input Connec-tors” on page 3-6 for more information.5. Make sure the AV1 is receiving an audio signal. To do this, fol-low the instructions that begin on page 2-18 to open the STA-TUS menu for the current input source.6. Make sure all associated power amplifiers are powered on.Dialog sounds muffled.If the speaker setup does not include a center speaker, make sure acustom – as opposed to a THX – speaker setup is selected. Then,make sure the CUSTOM SETUP menu CENTER parameter is set toNONE. See“CENTER” on page 3-36 for more informationA humming sound is present in the audio.1. If a cable TV connection is present, disconnect the cable fromthe wall outlet. If this eliminates the humming sound, a groundloop isolation device is required. Contact your dealer or thecable provider for assistance.2. Disconnect components one at a time to isolate the problem.Once the problem is identified, make sure the associated com-ponent is properly grounded and connected to the same elec-trical circuit as the AV1.
