Retain the sales receipt as proof of warranty coverage.INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONSThe AV1 requires special care during installation to ensure optimalperformance. Pay particular attention to instructions below and toother precautions that appear throughout this user guide.DO install the AV1 on a solid, flat, level surface such as a table orshelf. The AV1 can also be installed in a standard 19-inch equip-ment rack using an optional rack-mount kit available from anauthorized JBL dealer.DO select a dry, well-ventilated location out of direct sunlight.DO N OT expose the AV1 to high temperatures, humidity, steam,smoke, dampness or excessive dust. Avoid installing the AV1 nearradiators and other heat-producing appliances.DO N OT install the AV1 near unshielded TV or FM antennas, cableTV decoders, or other RF-emitting devices that might cause inter-ference.DO N OT place the AV1 on a thick rug or carpet, or cover the AV1with a cloth, as this might prevent proper cooling.DO N OT place the AV1 on a windowsill or any location exposed todirect sunlight.DO NOT obstruct the front-panel IR receiver window. The remotecontrol must be in line of sight with the IR receiver for proper oper-ation. See “Operation Considerations” on page 2-6 for more infor-mation.DO N OT install the AV1 on a surface that is unstable or unable tosupport all four feet, unless it is installed in an equipment rack.DO N OT stack the AV1 directly above heat-producing equipmentsuch as a power amplifier.CAUTION!Before moving the AV1, power the unit off using the rear-panel power switch and unplug the power cord from thewall outlet.
