Page 2-16 V10/V7.5/V5/V3.5 Installation and Operation ManualIssue 3.5 Section 2 Preparation for Use and Installation2.2.21 Available OptionsThere are several options available for thetransmitter. Each option is described inthe following paragraphs to assist the userin selecting the final configuration for thesystem.2.2.21.1 Analog/Hybrid/All-DigitalOptionThe transmitter can be configured foranalog (FM), hybrid (FM+HD), or all-digital(HD) modes. Contact Nautel for moreinformation on each mode and on issueswith upgrading.2.2.21.2 Standby Exciter OptionThe transmitter can be readily upgradedto use a standby exciter. When thestandby exciter is installed, set thetransmitter in auto exciter changeovermode to enable the standby switchingfeature.2.2.21.3 Standby IPA OptionThe transmitter can be configured to use astandby IPA source and an associatedpower supply. For V10/V7.5 transmitters, a standby IPAmodule and associated IPA PS modulecan be provided. For V5/V3.5 transmitters, a standby PA,within the sole IPA module can beprovided. An associated IPA PS modulecan also be provided with the standby PA.When the standby IPA is installed, set thetransmitter in auto IPA (or IPA PA forV5/V3.5) or IPA PS (V5/V3.5 only)changeover mode to enable the standbyswitching feature.2.2.21.4 Standby LVPS and Fan SupplyOptionThe transmitter can be readily upgradedto use a standby LVPS and fan supply. When the standby LVPS and fan supplyare installed, set the transmitter in autofan supply (Fan PS) changeover mode toenable the standby switching feature.2.2.21.5 Output Connector OptionThe V10/V7.5’s standard outputconnection is 3-1/8 inch EIA. A 1-5/8 inchor 7/8 inch EIA output connection is alsoavailable. Use of a 7/8 inch connector islimited by power level and altitude. The V5/V3.5’s standard output connectionis 1-5/8 inch EIA. A 3-1/8 inch or 7/8 inchEIA output connection is also available.2.2.21.6 Station Spares Kit OptionA comprehensive maintenance spares kitis available. The kit includes somesurface-mount (SMT) semiconductors anda quantity of each through-holesemiconductor, LED, fan, and fuse usedin the equipment, as well as importantrepair items.2.2.21.7 Site Spares Kit OptionAn adequate (low level) maintenancespares kit is available. The kit includes alimited quantity of fuses used in theequipment as well as a fan.2.2.21.8 Ac Power Surge ProtectorPanel OptionNautel can provide an ac power surgeprotector panel (Nautel Part # NAX188),to aid in protecting the transmitter fromlightning. If purchased, refer to theNAX188 manual for installation details.2.2.21.9 Closed Ventilation OptionThe transmitter can be readily upgradedto use closed ventilation. Contact Nautelfor information on this option.2.2.21.10 NxLink Ethernet InterfaceOptionThe transmitter can be readily operatedwith an NxLink module (U15). Thismodule allows for connection to a LAN(local area network) for remote controland monitoring. The user supplies theEthernet interface cable. Contact Nautelfor information on this option or refer tothe NxLink Technical Instruction Manualsupplied with the NxLink module.
