Page 4-2 V10/V7.5/V5/V3.5 Installation and Operation ManualIssue 3.5 Section 4 Testing and AdjustmentThe exciter, IPA (entire module forV10/V7.5, individual PA for V5/V3.5), IPApower supply (ganged with IPA module forV10/V7.5, independent for V5/V3.5) andfan supply modules may be duplicated andconnected as active (main) and reserve(standby). The transmitter control/displaypanel’s GUI provides selection of the activeexciter/IPA/ IPA PS/fan PS (A or B). Thefollowing list identifies the duplicatedassemblies and which are active for aspecific selection. LVPS modules U11 andU12 are connected in parallel and arealways on together. See Table1-2 for recommended test equipment.4.3.3 Test PrerequisitesComplete the following before performingany of the functional test procedures:(a) Verify nothing that would affect the RFpower stage has been changed sincethe last time the initial start-upprocedure, described in Section 2 ofthis manual, was completed.(b) Switch off ac power at the serviceentrance.(c) Terminate the transmitter's RF outputinto a precision, 50 Ω, resistive, dummy load that is able to accuratelydisplay the RF power applied to it.WARNINGIf a jumper is placed between theinterlock inputs (TB1-1 and TB1-2) onremote interface PWB A44, safetyfeatures provided by the externalinterlocks will be disabled. A fail-safemethod of alerting personnel to this factshould be implemented. Voltagesdangerous to life are present on RFoutput stages and the antenna systemwhen the transmitter is turned on.(d) Close all external interlocks or connecta temporary jumper wire betweenTB1-1 and TB1-2 of the remoteinterface PWB.NOTERemote interface PWB A44 is the upper-most PWB on the panel behind the silk-screened cover.(e) Obtain the Proof of Performance testresults and the completed copy of theCritical Parameters sheet, taped tothe tray in front of IPA module A(A19). For future reference, storethese documents with section 5 of thismanual or in the Repair Manual’sbinder.NOTEThe data in the Critical Parameters sheet iscompiled at the factory with the transmitterterminated in a precision 50Ω dummyload. Measurements made on site into adummy load or the station antenna may notyield the same readings. Slight variancesare acceptable. The data is provided as aroutine maintenance and troubleshootingaid.
