If you are not sure of theproper static control precautions,contact your nearest sales or servicerepresentative.For a complete listing of the safety instructions, see theImportant Safety Instructions section earlier in this guide.Quick Start ProcedureThe following procedure is for experienced DSU/CSUusers who are familiar with the 3160/3164 DSU/CSUinstallation process and have no special requirements fortheir application.1. Attach the power cord to the rear of the DSU/CSUand the other end to a grounded 115 Vac poweroutlet.2. Attach the 3160/3164 DSU/CSU networkconnection to the T1 network using theappropriate cable. Attach the 3160/3164DSU/CSU to the CPE via the DTE (DSX-1)and/or ports connectors. Adapter cables areavailable which allow RS449 or V.35 devices tobe supported from the EIA 530A connector on therear panel. Refer to Appendix H, Equipment List.See the 3160/3164 DSU/CSU Cabling section laterin this chapter for more cabling information.3. Power on the DSU/CSU to perform the power-upself-test. See the Power-Up Self-Test section laterin this chapter for more information.4. To perform front panel emulation, connect thecable from the PC to the COM port on the rearpanel of the DSU/CSU. To perform devicemanagement from an async terminal, connect theterminal to the COM port (or for dial-in access,the modem port) on the rear panel of theDSU/CSU.
