Ubigate iBG2016 Configuration Guide/Ed.00© SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. 181Multi-Field ClassificationThe Multi-Field(MF) classifier is an important component of QoS.Its purpose is to help define flows for which appropriate service parameterscan be configured. Flow classification is the first step in the QoS process. The aggregate traffic is classified into flows or traffic classes. Each trafficclass can be configured with the desired QoS parameters, which determine theforwarding treatment given to packets matching that class. The classifier will support multi-field(MF) classification of packets based onany combination of the following header fields:y Packet classy Source IPv4 address(or prefix)y Destination IPv4 address(or prefix)y IPv4 DiffServ codepoint(DSCPy IPv4 precedencey IPv4 protocol typey Source/destination TCP/UDP portsy VLAN IDy 802.1p values(User Priority)y MPLS EXP bitsTraffic classification can be configured for inbound and outbound traffic onany interface. Multiple values can be specified for each of the above attributesto define ‘more aggregate’ or ‘coarser’ flows. Values can be specified either asa range or multiple non-contiguous values. There is no restriction on thenumber of values, for example, any number of IP addresses can be assigned toa traffic class for creating a match rule.A classification attribute can be wild carded by assigning a special value of‘default’ for that attribute.
