September 2015 Service ManualJib Boom ComponentsPart No. 218700 ZX-135/70 10711 Disconnect the electrical connector from thejib boom angle sensor located at the jib boompivot pin on the engine side of the machine.12 Remove the cover retaining fasteners from thejib boom angle sensor. Remove the cover.13 Remove the jib boom angle sensor mountingbracket fasteners from the side of the primaryextension boom.14 Carefully remove the bracket and sensorassembly. Note the location of the springs. Donot lose the springs.Note: There is one spring inside the jib boom pivotpin and one inside the angle sensor.Note: When the jib boom is installed, the jib boomangle sensor will need to be calibrated. Refer torepair procedure, Jib Boom Bellcrank AngleSensor for the calibration procedure.15 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the platform end of the jib boom.16 Support the barrel end of the jib boom liftcylinder with another suitable lifting device.17 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from thejib boom lift cylinder barrel-end pivot pin.18 Use a soft metal drift to remove the jib boomlift cylinder barrel-end pivot pin.Crushing hazard. The jib boomcould fall when the barrel-endpivot pin is removed if notproperly supported by theoverhead crane.Crushing hazard. The jib boomlift cylinder may becomeunbalanced and fall when it isremoved from the machine if it isnot properly supported by theoverhead crane.19 Secure the jib boom lift cylinder to the jib boomwith a strap or other suitable device.20 Raise the jib boom to a horizontal positionusing the overhead crane.21 Attach a second lifting strap from the overheadcrane to the pivot end of the jib boom.22 Remove the pin retaining fastener from the jibboom pivot pin. Do not remove the pin.23 Place a block under the jib boom level cylinderfor support. Protect the cylinder rod fromdamage.24 Use a soft metal drift to tap the pin halfway outin one direction and lower one side of the jibboom bellcrank. Tap the pin in the otherdirection and lower the other side of the jibboom bellcrank.25 Use a soft metal drift to remove the jib boompivot pin. Remove the jib boom from themachine and place it on a structure capable ofsupporting it.Crushing hazard. The jib boommay become unbalanced and fallwhen it is removed from themachine if it is not properlysupported by the overheadcrane.
