The hydraulictank could become unbalancedand fall if not properly supportedwhen removed from themachine.23 Place a block under the secondary boom liftcylinder for support.24 Remove the secondary boom lift cylinderrod-end pivot pin retaining fasteners. Use asoft metal drift to remove the pin through theaccess holes in the turntable bulkheads.25 Attach an overhead crane with a minimumcapacity of 7 tons / 7000 kg to thecounterweight end of the secondary boom.26 Raise the boom assembly with the overheadcrane approximately 20 feet / 6 m.Crushing hazard. The boomassembly can fall if not properlysupported by the overheadcrane.27 Remove the secondary boom lift cylinderbarrel-end pivot pin retaining fasteners. Do notremove the pin.28 Attach a lifting strap from a second overheadcrane to each end of the secondary boom liftcylinder.Note: Protect the hoses and cables underneath thecylinder from damage.29 Use a slide hammer to remove the barrel-endpivot pin.Component damage hazard.Hoses and cables can becomedamaged if the barrel end of thesecondary boom lift cylinder isallowed to fall when thebarrel-end pivot pin is removed.30 Carefully remove the secondary boom liftcylinder from the machine.Crushing hazard. The secondaryboom lift cylinder could becomeunbalanced and fall whenremoved from the machine if notproperly attached to theoverhead crane.Component damage hazard.Hoses and cables can bedamaged if the secondary boomlift cylinder is pulled across them.
