Service Manual September 2015Checklist B Procedures36 ZX-135/70 Part No. 218700B-6Check the Exhaust SystemGenie specifications require that this procedure beperformed every 250 hours or quarterly, whichevercomes first.Maintaining the exhaust system is essential togood engine performance and service life.Operating the engine with a damaged or leakingexhaust system can cause component damageand unsafe operating conditions.Bodily injury hazard. Do notinspect while the engine isrunning. Remove the key tosecure from operation.Bodily injury hazard. Beware ofhot engine components.Contact with hot enginecomponents may cause severeburns.1 Remove the engine pivot plate retainingfastener. Swing the engine pivot plate outaway from the machine.1 engine pivot plate anchor hole2 engine pivot plate retaining fastener2 Locate the engine pivot plate anchor hole atthe pivot end of the engine pivot plate.3 Install the bolt that was just removed into theanchor hole to secure the engine pivot platefrom moving.Crushing hazard. Failure toinstall the bolt into the enginepivot plate to secure it frommoving could result in death orserious injury.4 Be sure that all nuts and bolts are tight.5 Inspect all welds for cracks.6 Inspect for exhaust leaks; i.e., carbon builduparound seams and joints.7 Remove the engine pivot plate retainingfastener from the engine pivot plate anchorhole at the pivot end of the engine pivot plate.8 Swing the engine pivot plate in towards themachine.9 Install the bolt that was just removed into theoriginal hole to secure the engine pivot plate.Crushing hazard. Failure toinstall the bolt into the enginepivot plate to secure it frommoving could result in death orserious injury.
