Service Manual September 2015Checklist D Procedures72 ZX-135/70 Part No. 218700D-4Adjust the Turntable RotationGear BacklashGenie specifications require that this procedure beperformed every 1000 hours or annually,whichever comes first.Properly adjusted turntable rotation gear backlashis essential for good machine performance andservice life. Improperly adjusted turntable rotationgear backlash will cause the machine to performpoorly and continued use will cause componentdamage. The turntable rotation drive hubs aremounted on an adjustable plate on the swingchassis behind the fixed side cover at the groundcontrols side of the machine.Note: Perform this procedure with the machine fullystowed and the counterweight at the square end ofthe machine.Note: Perform this procedure with the machine ona firm, level surface that is free of obstructions.1 Secure the turntable from rotating with theturntable rotation lock pin.2 Remove the fixed turntable cover at theground controls side of the machine.3 Loosen the backlash pivot plate mountingbolts.4 Push the backlash pivot plate towards theturntable as far as possible (this will push therotation pinion gears into the turntable bearingring gear).5 Loosen the lock nut on the adjustment bolt.6 Turn the adjustment bolt clockwise until itcontacts the backlash pivot plate.1 backlash pivot plate2 adjustment bolt with lock nut3 backlash pivot plate mounting bolts7 Turn the adjustment bolt 1/2 to 3/4 turncounterclockwise. Tighten the lock nut on theadjustment bolt.8 Pull the backlash pivot plate away from theturntable until it contacts the adjustment bolt.Then lubricate the mounting fasteners on thebacklash pivot plate and torque tospecification. Refer to Specifications, MachineTorque Specifications.9 Rotate the turntable through an entire rotation.Check for tight spots that could cause binding.Readjust if necessary.
