19PreparationInstalling the Antenna1. Turn the antenna clockwise until it is secured.• Do not hold or twist the upper part of the antennawhen installing or removing it. To do so may break theconductors inside the antenna.• Do not key the transmit without installing the antenna.The transmitter components may be damaged.Hold the thick baseof the antennaAttaching the Accessory Protective Cap/Belt Clipz Attaching the Belt Clip1. Attach the belt clip on the back of transceiver using thesupplied screws (two).Be sure to use the supplied screws when attaching the beltclip. If any other screws are used, the belt clip cannot besecured firmly to the battery pack and the transceiver maydrop off together with the battery pack; the transceiver andbattery pack may fall off, causing injury, breakage and otherdamage.z Attaching the Protective CapIf the belt clip is not used, install the protective cap to coverthe belt clip attaching screw holes on the battery pack.Installing the Battery Pack1. Insert the bottom tabs of the battery pack in the slots onthe back side lower part of the transceiver.2. Push the battery in until the battery latches click securely.Charge the battery pack before using the transceiver for thefirst time after purchase, or when it has not been used for along period of time.Caution: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by anincorrect typ. Dispose of used batteries accordingto the instructions.Battery Latchesz Removing the Battery Pack1. While pressing down the latches, remove the battery pack.
