,..,,..,CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULBSOCKETSCheck each bulb and bulb socket for damage orwear, proper connections, and al so for continuitybetween the terminal s.Damage/wear --+ Repair or replace the bulb,bulb socket or bot h.Improperly connected --+ Properl y connect.No continuity --+ Repair or replace the bulb, bulbsocket or both.Types of bulbsThe b ul bs used on this ve hicl e are shown in theillustration.• Bulbs "a" is used for the head li ghts and usuallyuse a bulb holder that must be detached beforeremoving th e b ul b. The majo ri ty of these typesof bulbs ca n be removed from their respectivesocket by turning them counterclockwise.• Bulbs "b" and "c" are used for tum signal andtail/brake lights and can be removed from thesocket by pushing and turning the bulb coun-terclockwise.• Bulbs "d" is used for meter and indicator lightsand can be removed from th ei r respectivesocket by carefully pu lli ng them ou t.a bc d0Checking the condition of the bulbsThe following procedu re applies to all of theb ul bs.1. Remove:• BulbEWAt3S20AwARNINGSince the headlight bulb gets extremely hot,ELECTRICAL COMPONENTSkeep flammable products and your handsaway from the bulb until it has cooled down.NOTICE• Be sure to hold the socket firmly when re-moving the bulb. Never pull the lead, other-wise it may be pulled out of the terminal inthe coupler.• Avoid touching the glass part of the head-light bulb to keep it free from oil, otherwisethe transparency of the glass, the life of thebulb, and the luminous flux will be adverse-ly affected. If the headlight bulb gets soiled,thoroughly it with a cloth moistened with al-cohol or lacquer thinner .2. Check:• Bulb (for continuity)(with th e pocket tester)No continuity --+ Re pl ace.Pocket tester90890-03112Analog pocket testerYU-03112-CTIP ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Before checking for continuity, set the pockettester to "O" and to the "Q x 1" range.TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTa. Connect th e positive tester probe to terminal"1" and the negative tester probe to terminal"2", and check the continuity.b. Connect the positive tester probe to terminal"1" and the negative tester probe to terminal"3", and check the continuity.c.
