Chapter 2 Setting Up 2-17Setting UpLoading Paper in the Multi-Purpose TrayFollow this procedure to load paper in the multi-purpose tray:1 Make sure the paper thickness leverinside the ADF (Automatic DocumentFeeder) is set to p (left).• For optimum printing results, always leavethe paper thickness lever set to p (left).c Do not set the paper thickness leverwhile the copier/fax is printing sincethis will cause problems.2 Raise the paper rest until it stops q,then move the paper guide to the leftto match the size of your paper w.3 Prepare a stack of paper by fanningthe edge that will feed into the unitfirst, and then tapping the stack on aflat surface to even its edges.4 Insert the stack into the multi-purposetray until it stops q, so that the rightedge of the stack is aligned with theright side of the multi-purpose tray.Slide the paper guide snugly againstthe left edge of the stack w.• The multi-purpose tray holds up to 100sheets of 20 lb.
