CHAPTER 5 - PXG200E THEORY OF OPERATIONEATON PXG200E User Manual • IM02603001E Rev 5, 11-May-2012 • Firmware Version 5.03:383518Accessing the PXG200E on the Ethernet LANDevices on an Ethernet LAN are accessed by the use of their InternetProtocol (IP) address. The PXG200E will support either a static assignment ofthe IP address, which stays constant, or assignment of the address from aDHCP server. The method you choose to use will be determined by yourinstallation and system integration needs. More information on IP addressassignment and DHCP servers is provided in Connecting to an EthernetLAN on page 171.Configuring the PXG200E via the USBYou can also configure the PXG200E by connecting it through its USB port. When you connect your Windows computer to the USB port, you will beable to access the same web interface that you can see from the LAN. Thiscan be useful in cases where the address on the LAN is not known, or whena LAN port connection is not available. A USB driver is provided on thePXG200E CD-ROM and must be loaded on your computer to use thisfeature. More information on loading the USB driver is provided in USBDriver Installation on page 155.Configuration of Downstream Devices from the LANThe data mapped for a device does not normally include all of itsconfiguration parameters, so device configuration via the PXG200E webpages is not generally supported. However, the PXG200E has built-in,pass-through mechanisms which allow some specific tools to gain directaccess to the “downstream” device via the Ethernet LAN. More details onpass-through can be found in PXG200E System Integration onpage 141.
