CHAPTER 7 - ACCESSING THE PXG200E29EATON PXG200E User Manual • IM02603001E Rev 5, 11-May-2012 • Firmware Version 5.03:3835Using an Ethernet LAN ConnectionUse this procedure to connect the PXG200E Ethernet LAN port to anEthernet LAN port on your computer and login.RequirementsTo connect the PXG200E to an Ethernet LAN you must have:• A 32 or 64 bit, PC-compatible, computer•Either of the following• CAT 5 STP*/UTP. *Based on the applications, STP may be necessaryfor electromagnetic immunity requirements. A CAT 5 Ethernet LANcable is for connecting the PXG200E Ethernet LAN port to theEthernet LAN system, such as to a router or switch.• An Ethernet LAN Crossover cable. An Ethernet LAN Crossover cableis for connecting the PXG200E Ethernet LAN port directly to theEthernet LAN port on your computer without connecting to thenetwork.• The PXG200E can be one of several devices connected to theEthernet LAN. Use one CAT 5 STP*/UTP. * cable to connect thePXG200E to the next device, router or switch upstream from thePXG200E. Use one CAT 5 STP*/UTP. * cable to connect the PXG200Eto the next device downstream from the PXG200E.Procedure1. Connect one end of an Ethernet LAN cable to the UPSTREAM EthernetLAN port of the PXG200E (Figure 18, A) and the other end to the nextUPSTREAM device or empty Ethernet LAN port on the network or onyour computer. If you are connecting to DOWNSTREAM devices on the Ethernet LAN,connect one end of an Ethernet LAN cable to the DOWNSTREAMEthernet LAN port of the PXG200E (Figure 18, B) and the other end tothe UPSTREAM Ethernet LAN port on the next downstream device. See“Connecting a PXG200E to the Ethernet LAN” on page 14.4.
