ADVANCED FUNCTIONS- 109 -2134567Polling CommunicationThe polling communication function allows you to receivepending originals in the sender's fax machine by manuallyoperating the receiving fax machine. In this document, theoperation in which this equipment is used as the sender's faxmachine is called “polling transmission” while that in which it isused as the recipient's fax machine is called as “pollingreception”.Polling transmissionUpon request of a recipient's fax machine, this equipmentsends an original document stored into the memory to therecipient. By setting a password and/or a recipient's faxnumber to an original stored into the memory, you can permitspecific recipients to receive the original using the pollingtransmission.Note• To use the polling communication function with thepassword verification applied, the fax machines of both thesender and recipient have to be Oki Fax machines (MFP).1 Place the original(s).2 Press the [FAX] button on the control panel.3 Press [OPTION] and set the transmissionconditions.4 Press the [ADVANCED] tab, and then press[POLLING RESERVE].5 To set the password and/or fax number (therecipient’s telephone number), press the[PASSWORD] and/or [FAX NUMBER]button. On the entry screen that appears,key in the password (4 digits) and/or faxnumber (a maximum of 20 digits), and thenpress [OK].• You do not have to set both the password and the faxnumber.• If you have to set neither a password nor a fax number,leave both blank and press [OK].6 Press the [START] button on the controlpanel.• Upon request of the recipient's fax machine, the data ofthe original stored into memory are sent automatically.Once they are sent, they are deleted from memory.• You can delete the data of the original from memory bycanceling the polling transmission.Polling receptionThis equipment requests the sender's fax machine to send thedata of the original.1 Press the [FAX] button on the control panel.2 Press the [ADVANCED] tab, and then press[POLLING].
