|Handbook 63Search Key DialingIf you are not sure which One Touch key or Auto Dialnumber contains the location you want to call, use the Searchkey to look through an alphabetical list of all of the LocationIDs programmed into your fax machine.1 When selecting locations, press the Search key. Thedisplay showsENTER 1’ST CHAR.2 Repeatedly press the Search key to look through the entirelist of locations in alphabetical order, or locate the letteryou want on the numeric keypad, and press that keyrepeatedly to look through Location IDs beginning withthat letter.Real-Time DialingNormally, your fax machine dials the entire number of thelocation you have selected at one time. Occasionally, youmay need to dial numbers in real time—one digit at a time.If your fax machine is equipped with a handset, you can dialin real time by picking up the handset, or you can press theHook/Voice Request key.RedialingIf the line is busy or if there is no answer, your fax machinewaits, and then automatically redials the number. The dialparameter settings determine how many times it redials andhow long it waits between attempts. Refer to the “DialParameters Settings” section of this handbook.If your fax machine is transmitting from memory and acommunication error occurs, it automatically redials thenumber and tries to resend the fax.You can redial a number manually at any time by pressing theRedial key.! If a power loss occurs, the redial information is lost.Refer to the ”Basic Faxing Operations, Power Failuresand Memory” section of this handbook.Confirming ResultsAfter transmission, press the Copy key once (with nodocuments loaded) to see the result of your transmission(Message Confirmation [MCF]) on the display. To print theMCF report, press the Copy key a second time. Refer to the“Reports” section of this handbook.
