12.1 Alarms overviewAlarms alert you to a situation or hazard requiringyour attention, such as shallow depth or a change inwater temperature.Alarms are triggered by system functions, andexternal devices connected to the Multifunctiondisplay (MFD).Audible and visual warnings are displayed on allnetworked MFD screens when an alarm is triggered.The alarm message provides details of the reasonfor the alarm.Alarm messages are color coded to signify theirseverity as follows:• Red Alerts — immediate attention required dueto potential or immediate danger to life or vessel.Red Alerts continue to sound until acknowledgedor the conditions that triggered the alarm are nolonger present. Red Alerts are accompanied byan urgent audible tone.• Orange Warnings — used to warn a user about achange in situation that they need to be aware of.Orange Warnings are accompanied by a normalaudible tone.• Blue Cautions — used to inform a user of anyother information. Blue Alerts are also used foruser acknowledgments and disclaimers. BlueAlerts are not accompanied by an audible tone.Acknowledging an active alarmWhen an alarm event occurs it can be acknowledgedby selecting Ok, this will dismiss the alarm messageand stop the alarm tone.During an active alarm event (i.e. an alarm messageis displayed):1. Select Ok.The message is dismissed and the alarm toneis stopped.Tip If an alarm message includes an Edit buttonthen the alarm’s settings can be accessed directlyfrom the alarm message.Most alarms will remain active until the conditionsthat triggered the alarm are no longer present e.g. aShallow Depth alarm will automatically dismiss whenthe depth becomes deeper. Whilst active the alarmwill be triggered at a set time interval.12.2 Alarm Manager overviewThe Alarm Manager is used to configure the behaviorof alarms and to manage alarm activity.The Alarm Manager can be used to:• Enable and disable alarms• Adjust alarm thresholds• View alarm history• View list of currently active alarmsIn the Settings tab alarms are displayed in thefollowing categories:• Safety Alarms• General Alarms• * Switch Panel Alarms• ** Engine AlarmsNote:• * The Switch Panel Alarms category is onlydisplayed when you have a correctly configuredRaymarine Digital Switching system installed onyour vessel.• ** Engine alarms will only be triggered when therelevant engine data is available on the networkand transmitting appropriate NMEA messages.Alarm SettingsFrom the Settings tab you can enable and disablealarms and change alarm thresholds.Alarms with Black text are currently enabled, alarmswith Gray text are currently disabled.
