13.1 Man overboardIf you lose a person or object overboard, you canuse the Man Overboard (MOB) function to markthe position that the vessel was at when the MOBfunction was activated.The MOB function is available at all times, regardlessof which application is running. MOB can be set toDead Reckoning or Position mode. Dead Reckoningmode will take into consideration the effects of windand tides. This usually provides a more accuratecourse. Position mode does not take these factorsinto account.To obtain a MOB position, your multifunction displaymust have a GPS position fix. If you're using deadreckoning, heading and speed data must also beavailable.When MOB is activated:• An audible MOB alarm is sounded every 30seconds until the MOB is cancelled.• An MOB alarm dialog is displayed until it isacknowledged.• The system sends MOB alarms to other Raymarineequipment.• The active Chart application is changed to alow-detail 2D view, with an initial range of 15 m(50 ft). Motion mode is set to Auto Range. Asthe vessel moves away from the MOB position adotted line is displayed, joining the MOB positionwith the vessel's position.• The active radar application range is changed to230 m (760 ft).• All Goto and Follow functions are disabled in allapplications. Navigation to any active waypointis stopped and any existing navigation function iscancelled.• If position or heading and speed information isavailable a MOB waypoint is placed at the currentvessel position in any application that is capable ofshowing waypoints and vessel position.• MOB data is displayed in the databar, replacingthe existing data.• MOB data is displayed on the homescreen,replacing the status icons.When the MOB alarm is cancelled:• MOB data is removed from the relevantapplications.• The chart application motion mode is reset.• The chart is centered on the vessel and pitch /rotation set to default.• GOTO and route functions are restored.• The databar mode is reset.• A MOB normal mode signal is sent to anyinstrument on SeaTalk.Activating the man overboard (MOB) alarmOn multifunction displays with physical buttons orwhen using a remote keypad you can use the WPT(MOB) button to activate the MOB alarm1. Press and hold the onscreen WPT / MOB iconfor 3 seconds.Cancelling the man overboard (MOB)alarm — Touch only displayOn a Touch only display you can cancel the MOBalarm and resume normal operation follow the stepsbelow:1.
