2–12 - Principles of operation2.1 User interfaceThe TM-D4000 is a 36-channel console with eightoutput busses, 4-band fully parametric equalizationon each channel and six aux sends. However, when you look at the console and compareit with an analog console of the same specifications,it may appear that some controls are missing. Forexample, there would be 408 EQ rotary controlsalone on an analog console (12 on each of 32 monochannels and 12 on each of 2 stereo channels). In fact, all the appropriate controls are present; theyare software controls, and this section explains howto access them, as well as providing a “road map” sothat you can find your way easily round the differentparts of the TM-D4000.2.2 Road mapThe TM-D4000 can be divided into logical sections,as shown below. It is worthwhile remembering whereeach section belongs, so that you can find your wayaround the console quickly and easily when you startto use it.The majority of the settings are made using the display screen, using the PODs underneath the screen.Chs 1–16, 17–32,AUX & buss sendmastersMachine controlsectionMonitor controlkeys and metersAnalog outputs, etcAnalog inputsLibraryModulecontrolkeysDisplay screenand PODsConfigurationMixingStereo inputand stereomastersLayer statusTalkbackData entry (some overlapwith machine control)AutomationcontrolClock & Fsindicators8–9
