11 - Cascade—Using the cascade11–4the monitor signal on the master unit with the PFLsignal. The PFL indicators on all units will flash, showingthat a PFL signal is currently being monitored. Theindicators will go out (and monitoring will revert tothe monitor source selected on the master unit) whenall PFL solos are cleared on all cascaded units.11.2.6Soloing (IPS)When the IPS solo mode is selected, soloing a chan-nel on any console will mute all other channels on allother cascaded units, unless they have been solodefeated (see 5.4.1, “Inplace solo defeat”).The solo defeat function is set for each unit in thecascade independently.11.2.7SOLO all clearWhen a number of channels are soloed, includingchannels on a number of different units in the cas-caded, the soloing can be cleared from any unit in thechain, following the procedure described in 5.4.4,“To clear all soloed channels” (press and hold downthe CLR key of the numeric keypad and press anychannel’s SOLO key).11.2.8Snapshot library functionsWhen a snapshot is recalled from any unit in the cas-cade (see 8.1.2, “Recalling a snapshot”), all units inthe cascade will attempt to recall snapshots with thesame number. If no data has been previously stored to the snapshotmemory, a unit attempting to recall the snapshot willdisplay the appropriate message. When a snapshot is stored, using any unit in the cas-cade (see 8.1.3, “Storing a snapshot”), the currentsettings will be stored on all units in the cascade. Theexisting snapshot memories in that memory locationare automatically overwritten in all units other thanthe one from which the store operation wasrequested. If store operation is to be confirmed on the unit fromwhich the store operation was requested (i.e. thesnapshot data will overwrite an existing libraryentry), no data will be overwritten in the other unitsuntil the ENTER key is pressed to confirm the over-write operation. When a snapshot is named from a unit in the cascade, that name will be copied over the cascade, so that allunits in the cascade will use the same name for thatsnapshot number.Snapshot undo and redo functions (see 8.1.2,“Recalling a snapshot” also work for all units in thecascade, if performed from any unit in the cascadechain.11.2.9Talkback in the cascadePressing the TO SLATE key of any unit in the cascadewill activate the talkback microphone of that unit, routing the microphone to slate, and will also dim theCR outputs of the master unit. However, pressing either the STUDIO or the TO AUX1-2 key of a slave unit only outputs the signal of theslave’s talkback microphone from the slave’s outputs(which will almost certainly not be connected to themonitoring systems).Accordingly, the master unit is effectively the onlyunit in the cascade where the STUDIO and the TOAUX 1-2 keys can be used.
