9 - Machine Control—Location memories9–59.2.2 Play ModeThis function determines the way in which the PLAYkey works. There are three settings:, Auto ,Deferred and Immediate .AUTO : The PLAY indicator will ash as the unit islocating to a location point. When the location pointis reached, playback will start automatically. How-ever, if the PLAY key is pressed before the locationpoint is reached, the unit will stop locating and startplaying.DEFERRED : The unit will stop after location iscompleted. However, if the PLAY key is pressedwhile the unit is locating, the PLAY indicator willash, and playback will start when the location pointis reached. NOTEBecause an open MMC connection cannotdetermine when the locate point has beenreached, deferred play is not possible for amachine controlled in this way. This alsoapplies to ADAT units connected through theIF-LP4000 interface.IMMEDIATE : The unit will stop after location iscompleted. If the PLAY key is pressed while the unitis locating, the machine will go straight into playmode, without locating.9.2.3 Cueing Mode“Cueing mode” here means that if the controlleddevice is in play mode, and either of the fast transportkeys (forward or rewind) is pressed, the fast transportmode is not latched and the unit will be in cue mode(i.e. when the fast transport key is released, the unitwill go back into play mode). To latch the unit in thefast transport mode, press the STOP key beforeentering fast transport mode.A VTR controlled over the RS-422 connection whichis put into fast wind with the cueing mode set on willfast wind with the picture visible.If cueing mode is not selected, when a fast transportkey is pressed, irrespective of the current transportmode, the unit will enter the fast transport mode,even when the fast transport key is released.9.2.4 Locate PrerollMove the cursor to the numeric eld, which sho wsthe pre-roll time when a location point is reached(displayed in minutes and seconds). For example, ifthis eld sho ws 0:10 , if a location operation iscarried out to a location memory of 00:20:32, theactual point located to will be 00:20:22.Note that this is used only in the case of Direct loca-tion 9.3.4, “Location to a location memory”, and notin the case of manual location operations (9.3.6,“Manual location”), which will locate to the valueentered, irrespective of the pre-roll time set here.Use the JOG dial to set the pre-roll value and conrmthe setting of this value with the ENTER key.9.3 Location memoriesThe TM-D4000 allows the storage and recall of up toten location memories, allowing easy location of thecontrolled devices to cue points.9.3.1 Selecting the location point displayAs explained in 3.3.1, “Location display mode”, theLOCATE DISPLAY MODE setting in theOPTION SETUP screen is used to determinewhether the LED time counter will show the locationmemories as they are entered, edited and recalled, orwhether they will be shown as “popup” panels on theLCD display screen.When this section mentions “the display” showinglocation memory values, this refers to the display thathas been selected in this option.NOTEDepending on the settings for frame display(9.2.1, “Edit Frames”), the frames value mayor may not be shown on the display whenlocation memories are being edited, etc.In the following explanations, the ENTER key by thecursor keys [45] may be used in place of the ENT keyby the number keys [42].
