System Guide 2- 1Backup and Restore2 Backup and RestoreTo ensure a smooth transition between Xerox FreeFlow ® PrintServer software levels and to maintain the Xerox FreeFlow PrintServer system for the long term, backing up and restoring systemand configuration information on a regular basis is part of a well-maintained printing environment.This section presents the backup and restore capabilities of theXerox FreeFlow Print Server controller. Refer to thedocumentation that accompanied your system for instructionsspecific to your product.The capabilities are:• Back up and restore configuration information• Back up and restore system informationSystem Backup and RestoreIt is recommended that the system image be backed up on aregular basis. Having a current system image ensures that in theevent of a failure of the system or the hard disks, the system canbe easily restored.• Backup System provides an image or copy of the hard disk,and places this copy into a protected partition on the XeroxFreeFlow Print Server hard drive, SCSI tape drive, or Unix filesystem. Backup System will copy everything on the disks thatit supports.– Backup System provides a quick and efficient way to bringthe system back up to a known installation.– Systems must have a minimum of 36Gbytes of disk spaceand DocuSP 5.x software.NOTE: Additional partitions/drives installed by the customer arenot backed up. These partitions/drives should be backed up on aregular basis or when the Xerox FreeFlow Print Server controllerhas been modified.• Restore System brings back the entire disk copy for thesystem, including the operating system, Xerox FreeFlow PrintServer software, and user options. Only one version, at a time,of a Backup System is supported.– For new Xerox FreeFlow Print Server systems or systemsthat have had a clean installation, the Backup and RestoreSystem capability is available through the Print Serverinterface.
